  1. I have the worst time finding a good oil free foundation that doesn't make me break out...could you explain why you endorsed Laura Mercier?

  2. Ahhh, good question. It's not so much I endorse Laura Mercier's product but based on a past experience I was pleased with the result.

It was last summer I went into Nordstrom because I wanted to get the "bronze" look all the magazines were raving about. I was at the Bobbi Brown makeup counter and the sales woman went over to the Laura Mercier and whipped out her tinted moisturizer. She did the whole test trial on my face. I believe it may have had SPF in it but I can't remember. It came on really well & smooth and as a woman of color I was shocked that it actually matched my complexion! But alas, I didn't buy it but instead bought the Bobbi Brown bronzer compact (as I'm not big on foundation or powder compacts and I didn't want to waste my money on a product that will just sit on the shelf or in my makeup box - I'm speaking from past experiences). It has 3 shimmer sticks and I just use a kabuki brush and brush along my temple & cheeks for that "glow."

My daily routine consists of just washing my face in the morning w/an acne formulated cleanser and then follow-up w/an oil-free moisturizer (light not heavy) and Neutrogena's amazing 45 SPF light touch (I can't remember the exact name of it but its the BEST SPF I've come across) sunblock. I have combination skin and I really don't like putting anything covering my face to be absorbed and further any breakouts.

The best recommendation I can make to you is to buy products from retailers (Nordstroms/Sephora) where you can exchange the product if it doesn't work for you until you find one that does. The problem is that what's good for one person isn't necessarily good for another (makeup wise).

I wished I could be more helpful but everyone's skin it different and it would definitely be quite difficult for me to recommend THE perfect product for you that won't have you break out. Maybe you can consult with a dermatoligst and see what brand(s) they recommend would help benefit your skin type. I hope this helps. What kind of products have you used before?

Word to the wise: stay away from MAC, it's not "healthy" for your skin (the foundations and powders). I use their eyeshadows and lipsticks for their vast array of colors. MAC makeup (their foundations/powders) are great for taking professional pictures but not for everyday use. It will definitely mess up your skin. Ask any dermatologist.
