There was a car accident two houses up and the tow guy came over to see what happened. I explained the story and he took the dog from me. I ran into my uncle's yard and asked my aunt what do I do? She said call 311. I was going back into my car when the tow guy came back and asked me if I can take the dog to the ER Vet closeby. I said sure no problem. The poor dog was terrified and stiff. The tow guy wondered if his spine was broken because he was so stiff.
Well I went to this VET ER place, who saw that the dog had some blood in its mouth and referred me to another Vets Office who contracts w/the shelter nearby my uncle's house. I drive over there w/the dog and called the office, they then tell me to take the dog to the shelter over in the area that I live in. I dropped the poochie off and called on Monday to check up on him.
The dog is a 10-month-old poodle mix pup! No one claimed him and he had no permanent fractures! I saw this as a blessing, my prayers were answered. I adopted him and called him Luca. Naturally the shelter will not let u take a unneutered male dog. So he had to get the ole snip snip. I had 3 days to take him to any vet for a free checkup. I took him to Bella's vet. The dog was so severly shaking I hadn't realized that he was traumatized by being mistreated whomever had him before until I saw him out in public. It broke my heart. The vet gave him a clean bill of health, teeth n gums were great. I paid for some antibiotics (as he was running a bit of a fever) and for a stool sample (which came back clean w/no parasites and/or worms).
Lucky Luca has a conehead thing going on so he won't bite or mess w/his stitches. He's a little raggedy thing right now cuz I was not able to get him groomed before taking him home and before the surgery. After seeing how severly traumatized he was, I decided that Luca needed someone other than me to care for him. Someone who has no prior dogs and will be able to spend ample time nursing him and nuturing him. My homegirl Shonte found someone for him. A 15-year-old girl who is going to love this pup.
He is such a good dog it's not even believeable. He pees and poops ONLY on the pee pads and hasn't barked once since being with me. He's slowly coming out of being scared but it will take some time. I'm happy to have been able to save him and take care of him until he's ready to find a perm home (even if its not with me). I only want the best for this poor dog that has suffered so much already. And I think he's finally going to get it!

That black thing next to him is my Bella sniffing him out! =p
